Meningococcal disease is caused by infection with the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis, which can rapidly lead to bloodstream infection and meningitis. Although rare, it is highly severe, and if not treated promptly, it can be fatal within 24 hours.
Vaccination is an effective preventive method. High-risk groups who should consider vaccination include:

There are two types of meningococcal vaccines.
This depends on the requirements of the educational institution or the country.
Type 1 : Meningococcal B, (Currently spreading) administered from 2 months of age onwards.
Type 2 : Meningococcal A, C, W, Y, administered from 12 months of age onwards.
*For those traveling to high-risk countries, complete vaccination is recommended before departure to ensure immunity.
Methods to Prevent/Reduce the Risk of Infection : Avoid contact with infected individuals' nasal discharge and minimize exposure to crowded places.
